Our bed and breakfast tariffs set out on our website do not include the cost of dinner. Please note that the price is per room and not per person. For bookings where all of our rooms are reserved, a higher bed and breakfast tariff will apply to allow us to bring in additional staff to accommodate and serve a larger group at one time. Please contact us for details. There is a maximum occupancy of two people per bedroom (only the Upper Steading Suite as advertised can accommodate two, three or four people with the number expressly given at the time of reservation). The use of our bedrooms, suites and en-suite shower and bathroom facilities are for the exclusive use of the occupants in whose name the reservation is made. Friends, family and other non-resident guests associated with resident house guests are welcome to use the common areas in Coruisk House itself, available to restaurant guests, but not the residents’ sitting rooms, bedrooms, suites and their en-suite facilities.
Tariffs and prices for Coruisk House set out on third party websites and in third party publications will not be correct and the only tariffs that apply to a stay and dinner at Coruisk House are those set out on our website and in our literature.
There is a discount for stays of two nights or more. A minimum stay of two nights (Saturday and Sunday nights) may apply to reservations over weekends in May, June, July and August, although it is always worth contacting us to see if we have a space for a single night over a weekend. The cream iron bed bedroom has a low ceiling (5 feet and five inches in height) between the room and the en-suite shower room and is therefore not suitable for guests with restricted mobility.
We are sorry but we are unable to accommodate children under the age of 14 years in the rooms.
We have one dog friendly suite. Well-behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement and if our dog friendly suite is available.
Our labrador dogs live in the house and will have access to some of the common areas of the house (the conservatory and dining room). We do suggest that our premises may not be suitable for guests who do not like dogs.
The restaurant is open by advance reservation only from 1 March 2019 until 19 October 2019. Reservations at least 24 hours in advance are essential. We are a small family run restaurant, all dishes are cooked to order and we seek to provide the highest standard of food and service for our restaurant guests. We bring guests into our restaurant at allotted times (two seatings 6.45 pm and 7.45 pm) in order to be able to optimise the preparation of our dishes and our standards of service. While we endeavour to serve all of our restaurant guests promptly, guests who arrive late for their table reservation may experience a delay in their service. We are sorry but we are usually unable to change the time of advance table reservations. Debit or credit card details given by telephone (long number, expiry date and CVV code) are required for restaurant reservations and a charge of £35 per person is made to the card in the event of a cancellation with less than 48 hours notice or a non-arrival of any or all of the number of diners booked for the table reservation. Please do not send card details by email. We do not accept receipt of card details by email and you will not have a reservation unless the card details are given by telephone. The submission of a Contact Us form through our website does not constitute a reservation but simply an enquiry and a copy of a submitted Contact Us form is not a confirmation of a restaurant reservation. A restaurant reservation is made on receipt of an email from us confirming receipt of card details. the date and time of the table reservation and the number of diners.
We are delighted to cater for small, intimate weddings and ‘elopements’ (maximum 12 diners). For groups of ten or more diners we ask that all of our rooms are reserved by the group for the evening of the dinner reservation. For groups of six or eight diners we ask that two or three of our rooms respectively are reserved by the group for the evening of the dinner reservation. Where all of our rooms are booked the cost of the accommodation becomes non-refundable 60 days before the date of arrival. The cost of the meal where the entire restaurant is reserved, is due and payable 60 days before the date of arrival and again becomes non-refundable on that date.
The prices on our restaurant menus are exclusive of a service charge and the payment of a service charge is at the discretion of our customers. For groups of four diners or more, a discretionary service charge of 12.5% is added to the bill.
We ask for payment of the entire cost of accommodation at the time of reservation and a reservation is only confirmed on our receipt of the funds and an email from us confirming the reservation.
We take most debit or credit card details by telephone (long number, expiry date and CVV code). Unfortunately we cannot accept American Express cards. Please do not send card details by email as it is not secure to do so and we cannot accept card details sent by email. We can also accept bank transfer payments.
The completion and submission of a Contact Us form on our website does not constitute a reservation. An email from us enclosing the completed Contact Us form does not constitute a reservation and acts simply as a record of your enquiry and request.
A reservation is only complete following our receipt of funds equal to the cost of the entire stay at Coruisk House and upon your receipt of our email confirming your reservation. We are not able to hold rooms pending receipt of payment of the accommodation. We will ask for card details on arrival to secure all liabilities under our terms and conditions set out on this web page.
In the event you cancel a room reservation with more than 60 days’ notice before your date of arrival, we will refund the entire cost of your stay, less a 20% administration fee on the total cost of the accommodation reserved. If you give 60 days notice or less than 60 days notice and more than 28 days notice before your date of arrival of a room cancellation, we will retain the cost of the first night’s stay and refund the balance. If you give 28 days notice or less than 28 days notice and more than 7 days notice before your date of arrival of a room cancellation, we will refund half the amount of the room tariff for all the nights reserved. For cancellations where 7 days or less notice is given and/or in the event that guests do not arrive on the date of their reservation, the total amount of the room tariff for all the nights that have been reserved will be retained. We advise all our guests to take out travel insurance to cover a late cancellation fee. .
The house and your room will be available to you on the day of your arrival from 4pm. We would ask that house guests do not arrive before 4 pm as unfortunately we will not be able to welcome you in to Coruisk House before 4 pm on the date of arrival. As our busy evening restaurant service may prevent our being able to welcome you as fully as we would wish, please let us know if you are likely to arrive after 6pm. The latest time available for check-in is 11 pm and only by prior arrangement. We ask you to vacate your room on the morning of your departure by 10.30am.
A cooked and continental breakfast is served between 8.30am and 9.30am. In the event that you wish to have an earlier breakfast we are happy to lay out a continental breakfast for you but unfortunately we will be unable to serve you ourselves in most instances before 8.30am.
We take most usual debit and credit cards except American Express. Please check in advance if in doubt.
There is parking available for house guests and restaurant guests in front of Coruisk House. The car parking facilities are not suitable for campervans and any guests arriving in campervans will be required to park the vehicle elsewhere and not on our premises. There is very limited parking for campervans available in the immediate surroundings of Elgol and guests are advised to arrive at Coruisk House by car.
We reserve the right to charge for damage and breakages to any items in the rooms and the house, and/or for any items removed from the rooms and the house. The amount charged in all cases will be the full replacement cost of the item or items damaged or removed, and the relevant sum will be charged to the credit or debit card used to secure the reservation of the guest (or guests), whether or not the guest (or guests) involved in the item’s damage or removal is the card holder for the card details given to secure the relevant reservation. Damage for which payment will be taken in the term set out above is not limited to but includes heavy soiling of sheets, towels and bathrobes and stains and soiling of or on any items of furniture, soft furnishings, linens, rugs, drapes, blinds and/or carpets in any of the rooms in the house. We reserve the right to charge additional costs of cleaning items and furnishings where soiling as set out above has been caused by a guest and again the relevant sum will be charged to the credit or debit card given to secure the reservation.
In accordance with legal requirements no guest may smoke, or allow another guest to smoke, in any of the rooms in the house, or in close proximity to the house (to prevent smoke being blown back in through an open window or door). Our no smoking policy applies to all cigarettes (including but not limited to, electronic cigarettes). Any guest who smokes or allows another guest to smoke in any of the rooms in the house, or in close proximity to the house (causing smoke to enter through an open window or door) will be charged an additional £400 (for additional cleaning and loss of later bookings affected due to odour) plus the cost of accommodating following guests in another hotel which will be charged to the card given to secure a reservation, and the guest or guests in breach of this no smoking policy will be asked to leave immediately. The £400 plus alternative accommodation costs for following guests and the total cost of any booking made in relation to the guest or guests involved will be immediately due and payable and will be charged to the card given to secure the reservation, whether or not the guest or guests acting in breach of the no smoking policy is/are the card holder(s) of the card given to secure the relevant reservation. Where the damage concerned renders the accommodation unlettable at the above bed and breakfast tariffs, compensation charged to the card will also include business interruption costs.
Unfortunately we are not able to offer a laundry service for guests’ clothes. There are public launderettes in Portree and Broadford.
We have one dog friendly suite available by reservation. Well-behaved dogs are very welcome. We do however charge at full replacement value for any damage to any items including but not limited to furniture, furnishings and decor. The compensation payment for damage will be processed using the card details provided on arrival.
Guests are asked to take care of all possessions as unfortunately we are unable to accept liability for any items removed from the rooms and/or the house without the owner’s consent.
Any guest who is abusive to staff or who causes a public nuisance or who behaves in a manner which adversely affects the enjoyment of other guests will be asked to leave immediately. The total cost of any room reservations made in relation to the guest involved in the nuisance behaviour will be immediately due and payable and will be charged to the card given to secure the room, whether or not the guest involved in the nuisance behaviour is the card holder of the card given to secure the room.
The details given on our sample menu and shown on our Restaurant page are indicative only and both content and price will vary. The format of our menu is as shown on the sample dinner menu and additional numbers of choice of courses are not available.
We make every effort to ensure that wi-fi, television and other similar technological facilities are available to you if desired, but our remote location is such that these cannot always be guaranteed. There is no mobile signal in Elgol and on the Strathaird peninsula.
We are sorry but as our rooms are located on the first floor of Coruisk House and The Steading they cannot be accessed by people who are unable to climb stairs and may be unsuitable for those with mobility difficulties. Please do contact us if you are unsure as to whether our accommodation is suitable for your requirements.
This contract and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it or its subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law. Parties to this contract irrevocably agree that the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim that arises out of or in connection with this agreement or its subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims)
